#8 If you're like me, you've run into your share of obstacles as you make your way along the path to success. While we can't always control what happens to us, we can control our response to it. I'm not talking about "thinking positively." That's not the answer. I'm talking about perception and what we choose to focus on. Highly successful people perceive the world in a different way than other people. The good news is... Our perception of our world isn't genetic. It's learned and it can be modified if we wish. How we view the world and respond to it is within our ability to control. I learned this years ago and continue to surprised by the power of this simple approach. The next time you're faced with an obstacle, instead of feeling blocked or discouraged try this: step back from it and look at it from all angles. Ask yourself questions like: what can I do to overcome this? What's actually good about this situation that isn't readily apparent? What can I do differently so as not to be blocked like this again? The questions we ask ourselves when faced with a challenge can have a major effect on creating the outcome we desire.
